QR Code Scanning: iPhone vs Android (Who Does It Better?)

Introduction

Both Apple and Google have baked QR code recognition directly into their camera apps. But is one better than the other? And do they cover every use case?

iPhone (iOS) Scanning

Apple integrated scanning into the Camera app back in iOS 11. It's fast and seamless. You get a little yellow pill notification to tap. It's great for URLs, but can sometimes struggle with complex WiFi codes or non-standard formats.

Android Scanning

Google Lens drives the Android experience. It's incredibly powerful and can identify products and translate text, not just scan codes. However, integration varies heavily between Samsung, Pixel, and other manufacturers.

The Common Problem

Neither native camera app is great at:

  • Kepping a history of your scans.
  • Scanning images saved in your gallery (though iOS is improving here).
  • Analyzing the code's raw data for safety before opening.

The Universal Solution

This is where Scanner Bot wins. It works identically on both platforms, runs in your browser, and offers consistent features regardless of your device model.
